Les filaments Kerfil sont constitués d'une poudre céramique et d'un système de liant thermoplastique. Les filaments Kerfil sont flexibles et peuvent être traités avec toutes les imprimantes 3D FDM standard. Afin d'obtenir une pièce en céramique pure, les pièces imprimées (pièces vertes) doivent encore être déliantées et frittées.
Dans une première étape de déliantage, le matériau liant est dissous à l'aide d'acétone. Dans une étape ultérieure, le matériau liant restant est délié thermiquement. Le frittage a ensuite lieu à environ 1500°C.
